Hello! I am Miguel Dos Santos. Born in Panama, I am currently studying Aeronautical Engineering in Portugal. I have always been interested in how computational tools can act as a bridge to drive advancements in other scientific fields, such as marine science.
At the O’Dea Lab, I apply my background in programming and data analysis to process complex oceanographic datasets. My current work focuses on processing and analyzing Pacific sea level data to understand how the El Niño-Southern Oscillation (ENSO) drives sea level variations. Specifically, I am investigating whether a correlation exists between sea level residuals at key stations and the Oceanic Niño Index (ONI).
Looking ahead, I want to continue building scalable, open-source computational tools and predictive models for oceanographic research, helping scientists better understand the long-term impacts of climate dynamics on marine environments.
